Why it is toxic
Coffee contains caffeine, which is closely related to the toxin in chocolate. Dogs are more sensitive to it than people. Ground coffee, coffee beans, pods and caffeine tablets or energy products are the most concentrated and the most dangerous; a lap of milky coffee is much less of a concern.
Symptoms to watch for
Restlessness, hyperactivity, vomiting, a racing heart, panting, tremors and, in severe cases, seizures. Contact your vet if your dog has eaten grounds, beans, pods or caffeine products.
