Why it is toxic
Dried vine fruits are toxic to dogs and Christmas pudding contains a lot of them, often with alcohol, suet and spices too. How much it takes to make a dog ill is unpredictable, so any amount should be treated seriously.
Symptoms to watch for
Vomiting or diarrhoea within hours, then lethargy, loss of appetite and reduced urination as kidney damage develops over 24 to 72 hours. Contact your vet straight away.
