Can Dogs Eat Leeks?

Why it is toxic
Leeks contain N-propyl disulfide and thiosulfates, the same compounds that make onion and garlic toxic to dogs. These damage red blood cells and can cause haemolytic anaemia. Cooking, drying, or powdering does not remove the risk. Small one-off nibbles rarely cause emergencies but there is no safe intentional serving size.

Symptoms to watch for
Vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, pale gums, rapid breathing, dark or reddish urine. Symptoms can appear 1–3 days after ingestion.
