Why it is risky
Ham is cured with salt and is often high in fat. Too much salt can make dogs very thirsty and unwell, and fatty foods can trigger pancreatitis in susceptible dogs. Honey-glazed or smoked ham adds more sugar and salt.
Safe portion
At most a small piece of lean ham occasionally. Plain cooked chicken or turkey is a better treat.
