From milk to mush
Weaning typically begins at 3–4 weeks with warm puppy formula or water mixed into a high-quality puppy kibble. Liquid is reduced weekly until pups eat solid food by week 7–8.
Foods to avoid in the first year
- Cooked bones
- Grapes, raisins, onion, garlic
- High-fat human leftovers
- Adult-formula food for large-breed pups
