Why it is safe
Sardines are small, oily fish containing omega-3 fatty acids, with relatively low mercury. Choose sardines in spring water with no added salt, and avoid those in tomato sauce, brine or flavoured oils.
Safe portion
One sardine for a small dog, or two for a large dog, once or twice a week.
